Well after way longer than I expected and about 5.5 seasons of The Simpsons in the background, my Bartkira pages are done and fully colored for some reason. I think I took it way too seriously, but I wanted to draw each page how I would draw them in one of my own comics. No tracing, no rulers, just a lot of eyeballing. Can’t wait to see the whole book!

Finally. I made it to this famed Korean fried chicken joint. I left the ordering to my sister and her husband. We started with some buns, mandoo (fried dumplings), and fried zucchini (we wanted to get our veg in somewhere). The fried dumplings were probably my favorite - crunchy, savory and succulent. The Bao was a little flat (a little more pickling or vinegar would have elevated the dish immensely).
On to the main course and the entire reason for coming here - the fried chicken! We went with the half and half, because although the hot sauce is amazing, as krowr puts it “I get half half cause all spicy hurts me”, which is a pretty accurate statement unless you have a stomach of steel. The chicken is delicious - perfectly fried crispy exterior (note this is not a batter fried chicken for those not familiar with Korean fried chicken), moist interior, with a tangy spicy sauce coating all this goodness. And the soy garlic covered chicken gives you a respite from the heat before you back for more.

And some of them are faces he hates, and is a blow to his ego.

In his mind’s eye, he sees himself as his practiced face in front of mirrors
Secretly his private worry is that it’s not how he really appears.
What if everyone can spot his flaws, the ones only he is able to see?
Then they’d know the face is a lie, and the thought makes him want to flee.

But until that day he’ll stay in place and wear the face that suits him best,
